At the RMIT Store, we feature a huge range of student-designed products and gifts. Collaborating with RMIT students brings in a new variety of talent and creativity to the items sold at the store. One of our incredible designers is Mihika Dhule. She studied a B.Des. in Communication Design and has worked with the store on some amazing graphics.
Recently she designed the swing tags for the ‘Same Same, But Different’ store collaboration with the RMIT Fashion and Textiles students (read more about that in an earlier blog!)
We had the chance to chat with Mihika, so read on to hear more about her influences, creative process and get some advice as well!
What influences your designs? Graphic design is omnipresent. Taking a minute or two to appreciate and analyse a poster on the street or a menu in a restaurant helps! I guess my direct answer is: everyday life.
What motivates you? I am lucky to have a great set of friends who are also aiming to join the industry. They always push me to work harder and take up opportunities. Spending more time on my design-focused Instagram account also motivates me to get to the level of other creatives.
What is your advice to future designers? Everyone's journey is different! It could take you a while to feel confident in your process. Oh and also learn more Adobe software ;)
What is something a current RMIT student may not know about RMIT or Uni in general? There's access to a lot of resources. All you have to do is ask. For example, we have photography studios and cameras you can rent if you ever need them!
Check out some of Mihika’s work at the RMIT Store and show some support to all of our incredible student designers.
I’ll have another designer introduction for you next week, so make sure you come back to hear about another one of our talented students!
