About
Visible Ink was established in 1989 by a student of the Professional Writing and Editing program and started as a student magazine. Over the three decades since, it has become a well-loved collection of annual anthologies, each produced and published by a collective of RMIT students, that showcases the broad range of creative talents within Australian emerging writers. It now encompasses a talented team of students that are committed to curating Australia’s creative best.
As a volunteer student committee, Visible Ink's publishing team is not only involved with the curation and editing of content but also involved with marketing, events, community outreach and applying for grants and sponsorships to support the publication and the writers who submit their work. Visible Ink is particularly aimed for students interested in gaining hands-on experience in publishing and relevant creative industries.

Visible Ink's production was unfortunately impacted by the 2020 covid-19 pandemic, causing the publication to go into a brief hiatus. The pandemic, in addition to increasing funding cuts, has Visible Ink deciding to transition into more widely accessible digital format for its volunteer student committee to maintain, starting from 2024.
The 2025 team is committed to making Visible Ink a new digital literary magazine, creating its editorial and submissions processes, designing the new website and brand look, and more.
From 2025 onwards, we hope for future team members to build on the foundation that the 2025 team has created in order for Visible Ink to grow into a significant publication within the Australian literary landscape, one that supports local emerging professionals through various opportunities. We also aim to secure funds to continue producing physical anthologies in the future.
