The Sentient artwork featured on this lanyard was created by Hollie Johnson, a Gunaikurnai and Monero Ngarigo woman from Gippsland, and a 2016 RMIT Bachelor of Photography graduate.
Hollie’s design is deeply connected to her cultural heritage. It incorporates triangles and diamonds, symbolising men, and circles and semicircles, representing women, with the Black, Red, Red, and Black sequence honouring ancestral ties.
The colours of the linework reflect the evolution of nature—sun (yellow), land (green), and sea (blue). Some lines intertwine, reflecting the connections between life's paths; some are short, others continue endlessly, capturing the unique journeys each person experiences. While some paths meet, others remain separate, highlighting the diversity of life's encounters.
This 20mm wide lanyard is made from woven polyester and includes a breakaway clip and dog clip attachment for easy swipe access or identification.
