Open mats until approximately 8pm after each session for those interested in working on finer technical details and personal practice.
Beginners and experienced practitioners are welcome throughout the year!
We meet outside the activity space at 5.55pm. If you arrive late, get the attention of the gym staff at the front and you will be let in. Say you are training with the aikido club and you should be allowed through.
Aikido
Aikido is a modern Japanese martial art derived from jujitsu and weapons practice. It makes use of circular movements, proper timing and joint locks to off-balance, and control an attacker through effective ground pins or throws.

The RMIT Aikido Club aims to provide students and the general community with value-for-money aikido and martial arts training in a non-competitive and supportive environment. The club offers a range of classes to suit everyone, from beginners seeking to learn a new skill to more experienced practitioners looking to take up a second martial art.

Melbourne Uni Aikido club partnership
We have partnered with the Melbourne Uni Aikido Club to provide members with extra training opportunities each week.Â
What to bring to a training?
Firstly, bring yourself! Being physical in nature, we recommend wearing clothes that do not restrict your movements. Tshirts and shorts are fine if you're a total beginner.
If you have practiced other styles of martial arts and have their uniforms, these are fine to wear as long as there are no prominent patches or embroidery on them.
